Abstract
Lipid-poor high density lipoprotein apolipoproteins remove cholesterol and phospholipids from cells by an active secretory pathway controlled by an ABC transporter called ABCA1. This pathway is induced by cholesterol and cAMP analogs in a cell-specific manner.
