Abstract
The galactose oxidase-Schiff (GOS) reaction detects D-galactose-β-[1,3]-N-acetyl-D-galactosamine. This is a T-antigen expressed in mucus from malignant cells and colonic mucosa adjacent to cancer but not in normal mucosa.
