Abstract
Female Lesser black‐backed gulls, culled from a moorland nesting site in Lancashire for public health reasons, were examined to compare their body condition with the number and quality of eggs that they would lay. The clutch size and stage of the laying cycle of each bird were determined by examining their ovaries.
