TRPC is a subfamily of Transient Receptor Potential channels that have the highest degree of homology to the Drosophila photoreceptors' TRP. TRPC open in response to stimulation of plasma membrane receptors that activate phospholipase C, triggering transmembrane Ca2+ influx.
