Abstract
The attenuation of elastic surface waves in crystalline quartz at frequencies of 316 MHz and 1047 MHz has been measured as a function of temperature between 4.2°K and 300°K. At temperatures below 30°K the absorption per cm was found to follow a T4 law with an approximately linear frequency dependence.
