Abstract
Dominique Roberfroid challenges the weight change in our study at 1 year. Although the number needed to treat is 7·0 comparing rimonabant 20 mg with placebo for at least 10% weight loss, it is around 3·0 for a 5% or more response—a realistic and beneficial goal for most overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes.
