Mitochondrial dysfunction in NASH: Causes, consequences and possible means to prevent it

Calorie-enriched diet and lack of exercise are causing a worldwide surge of obesity, insulin resistance and lipid accretion in liver (i.e. hepatic steatosis), which can lead to steatohepatitis.
