Two isostructural compounds consisting of hexaaquanickel(II) or hexaaquazinc(II) cations and hydrogen ortho-sulfobenzoate (HSBZ) as counter-ions have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopy techniques.
