ABSTRACTA wide variety of organotin polyethers derived from the interfacial polymerization of dibutyltin dichloride and non-cancer inhibitory diols show decent to good inhibition of two human pancreatic cancer cell lines. In view of the general lack of ability of tested compounds to inhibit pancreatic cancer cell lines, this is significant. These cell lines are the AsPC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line which is an adenocarcinoma pancreatic cell line and the PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line which ...

The efforts described in this article are aimed at designing organotin polymers that control the growth of breast cancer and to identify structure/property relationships that assist in this goal. The growth of MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines is inhibited employing a wide range of organotin condensation polymers. The EC50 values are primarily dependent on the nature of the Lewis base but the CI50 is dependent on both the nature of the Lewis base and Lewis acid. A number of products ...

The current efforts described in this paper are aimed at developing compounds that inhibit the growth of prostate cancer and to identify structure/property relationships that will further assist us towards this goal. The growth of prostate cancer is affected employing a wide range of organotin condensation polymers. The EC50 values are primarily dependant on the nature of the Lewis base but the CI50 is dependent on both the nature of the Lewis base and Lewis acid. EC50 values down to the picogra...

The effect of solvent on the ability to inhibit a group of cell lines was studied employing a series of water-soluble dibutyltin polyethers derived from various hydroxyl-terminated poly(ethylene glycols). Molecular weight as a function of time was essentially unchanged for a period of 30 weeks for the polyethers. Variations in test media can affect biological activities on the cell level as well as at the molecular level. The current study involves the evaluation of the cellular effects when dim...

Polyether esters were rapidly formed employing the interfacial condensation of Group VA triphenylmetal dihalides with glycyrrhetinic acid in moderate yield and chain length. Infrared spectroscopy shows the formation of metal–oxygen bonds. The products are a mixture of bridging and non-bridging structures about the metal atom. Proton NMR and MALDI MS results are consistent with the formation of the polyether esters. Some of the polymers exhibit inhibition of the growth of pancreatic cancer cell l...

Abstract We explored the effects of pretrial publicity (PTP) and juror age on decision making and source memory. Mock jurors read news articles containing negative PTP, positive PTP, or unrelated stories. One week later they viewed a murder trial, made decisions about guilt, and completed a source memory test. We found that only positive PTP had a significant effect on older jurors' verdicts and impressions (positivity effect); while only negative PTP had a significant effect on younger jurors' ...

Chapter 3 describes the uses of polymeric materials in agriculture for controlled release formulations of agrochemicals, which are released into the environment of interest at relatively constant rates over prolonged periods to avoid the risk of the active agents being washed away by rain or irrigation. There are a number of agrochemical areas where polymers have been employed either as encapsulation membranes or as convenient supports to chemically attach the active agrochemical groups. In gene...

Organotin polyethers are easily synthesized employing interfacial polymerization systems involving the reaction of hydroxyl-containing Lewis bases and organotin halides. A wide variety of organotin-containing polymeric products have been synthesized including those derived from natural and synthetic polymers such as lignin, xylan, cellulose, dextran, and poly(vinyl alcohol). Others have been synthesized employing known drug diols such as dicumarol, DES, and dienestrol and a wide variety of synth...
