Abstract
Fuel atomization concepts and soot emission from spray flames have been reviewed for application to the development of low firing rate and low soot emitting residential oil burners. Project targets of firing rates of less than 0.5 gallons per hour and soot emission rates of 0.3 lbs per 1000 gallons or less have been set.
