The new bryozoan species Filites vulgaris Udodov, F.regularis Mesentseva, F.bakharevi Mesentseva, and F. fragilis Udodov are described from the Akarachkino Quarry in vicinity of Gurievsk (Salair), from a series of alternating argillaceous-carbonate shale and detrital, slightly argillaceous limestones of Emsian age (serotinus zone). In this series there are reticulate colonies of fenestellids in rock-forming abundance (over 20 species belonging to 12 genera). The bryozoan burial is autochthonous,...

Remains of a fossil cetacean, belonging to the family Basilosauridae, are for the first time found in the territory of the Baltic States. This finding is represented by a large vertebra and comes from the Late Eocene amber-bearing “Blue Ground” bed of the Sambia Peninsula in the Kaliningrad Region. The described fossil expands our knowledge on paleogeography and stratigraphic occurrence of Basilosauridae.

Based on the study of a representative collection of Berriasian–Barremian oysters from Mangyshlak, their taxonomic composition, stratigraphic and paleobiogeographical distribution are clarified. A new species, Gyrostrea bogdanovae sp. nov., considered to be the most ancient species of the genus Gyrostrea, from the Kugusem Formation (Hauterivian–Barremian), as well as the species Aetostreon subsinuatum (Leymerie, 1842) (with three morphotypes: type, falciforme, and dorsatum) are described from th...

An assemblage of platform conodonts from the Anasibirites nevolini Zone has been identified in the Lower Triassic beds of the SMID quarry near the town of Artyom, and a new species Scythogondolella dolosa sp. nov. of the subfamily Scythogondolellinae was described from this assemblage. We initially regarded this species as a putative morphotype of the type species Scythogondolella milleri (Muller, 1956), but further examination of the same bed resulted in the discovery of several more specimens ...

Some structural features of the suture line of adult representatives of the family Parkinsoniidae are analyzed. It has been established that in the genera Caumontisphinctes, Pseudocosmoceras, Sokurella and most Rarecostites, the ventral lobe (V) is deeper than the first lateral lobe (U). On the contrary, in the microconchs of the later Rarecostites, as well as in the genera Parkinsonia and Oraniceras, lobe V is smaller than lobe U; in macroconchs they can be of approximately equal depth. Based o...
