In this letter, a double threshold-based log-likelihood ratio (LLR) detector with a novel hard-soft combining rule (DT-LLR-HSC) is proposed for spectrum sensing in cooperative cognitive radio networks (CRNs) under the block Rayleigh fading scenario. A novel weighted hard-soft combining scheme is adopted at the fusion center to combine local binary/energy information resulting in global binary decision. A trust-based novel weight vector estimation considering both the sensing and reporting channe...

A novel sparse reconstruction method is developed for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in the presence of unknown mutual coupling of uniform linear arrays (ULAs). In the proposed method, a sparse representation for single measurement vector (SMV) is first derived. Then, it is shown that the problem size can be reduced by a linear transformation to eliminate the redundant components in the SMV. Finally, by taking advantage of the banded symmetric Toeplitz structure of the mutual coupling mat...

This letter proposes a simultaneous beam training (BT) scheme for multiuser millimeter-wave (mmWave) systems with subarray structures. To conduct parallel BT among user-groups and hierarchical BT for each user, an adaptively-allocate-subarray mechanism and a radix-4 multi-resolution codebook design are investigated. With the proposed scheme, the training overhead is significantly reduced to 4log4Nt for the system with Nt-antenna subarrays, and the inter-user-group-interference impact on the simu...

RFID is a promising technology that uses source-free tags for object tracking. Multiple tags can be attached to a single object to improve the object detection probability. However, the total identification time may also multiplied due to the increased tag population. This paper presents a Brother tags Filtering-based Identification scheme (BFI), which is the first scheme designed for multi-tagged object identification. The brother tags denote the tags attached to the same object. By iteratively...

Usually, multiple secondary users (SUs) utilize the opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) in cognitive radio networks to communicate with the secondary base station (sBS). In uplink transmission, each SU can only select one channel from C primary channels to sense, access, and transmit data packets with the constraints of hardware and energy. Distributed non-orthogonal multiple access based multi-armed bandit (D-NOMA-MAB) approach is proposed to solve the problem of the channel selection and the p...

Considering the fact that the mixture gamma (MG) distribution is a general model that can be used to elaborate most well-known distributions, including small-scale, large-scale, and composite fadings, this letter studies the security issue when the received signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) follow MG distributions. Closed-form expressions for secrecy metrics including the secrecy outage probability (SOP), the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity (PNZ), and the average secrecy capacity (ASC), are...

Downlink channel estimation in millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequency division duplex (FDD) massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems is investigated in this letter. Considering the sparse scattering nature of the mmWave channels, the estimation problem is formulated as a sparse parameter estimation problem. A low-complexity orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) estimation algorithm is proposed by exploiting the inherent correlation in the signal angular domain and the statistical scattering...
