A miniaturized absorber frequency selective surface (MAFSS) is proposed in this letter. The proposed absorptive frequency selective surface is mainly composed of two parts: the upper three-dimensional (3-D) absorbing structure and the bottom two-dimensional (2-D) frequency selective surface. The upper structure contains two elliptic absorbing structures, which provide a wide absorbing band over 12–18 GHz. The bottom structure includes an FSS, which acts as a bandpass filter in the transmission b...

This letter proposes a dual-polarized dual-band frequency selective rasorber (FSR) with low insertion loss, which is a two-tier structure. At the top layer, two interdigital resonators with different length, which are adopted to achieve two transmission bands, are inserted into the center of the lumped-resistor-loaded metallic dipole. At the bottom, the bandpass frequency selective surface consists of two square slots with different size, and its resonance frequencies are the same as the top lay...

A precise layer alignment is crucial to ensure performance repeatability of multilayer microstrip antennas. We introduce a novel lab-scale construction process for multilayer microstrip textile patch antennas that consists in combining an alignment method, based on laser-cut wood frames to perform accurate layer alignment, with a fast intralayer attachment method, based on thermally activated adhesive sheets. This lab-scale construction process is validated with an electromagnetically coupled mi...
We present and discuss the synthesis of modulated metasurface (MTS) antennas capable of radiating multiple beams at multiple frequencies. The proposed technique is built on a recently developed integral equation formalism. Assuming that the MTS can be homogenized over the whole frequency band, the sheet impedance describing the MTS can be accurately modeled w.r.t. the frequency. This allows us to simultaneously establish multiple systems of equations standing for a design at different frequencie...
In the design of smart antenna, switched-beam technology is widely used to increase the communication capacity and to reduce electromagnetic interference. This letter presents a switched-beam antenna array for the three-channel multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) wireless local area network operating in 2.4/5.8 GHz. In the proposed array, there are 12 directional beams, and every four partially overlapped beams form a channel. Thus, the proposed array provides three channels. For each channel,...
