Purpose of Review Drug-coated balloons (DEB) and drug-eluting stents (DES) emerged as a tool to aid in lowering the rates of neointimal hyperplasia and target lesion restenosis following endovascular peripheral arterial disease (PAD) interventions.

Purpose of Review Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a highly prevalent condition that increases the incidence and complexity of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The purpose of this review is to summarize current evidence, uncertainties, and opportunities in the management of patients with CKD and ACS, with a focus on revascularization.

Purpose of Review Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a serious non-atherosclerotic disease, most frequently presenting as an acute coronary syndrome and affecting female patients. Considering that diagnosis of SCAD is often elusive, and its interventional treatment is associated to a higher rate of complications than obstructive atherosclerotic disease, we aim to review all the imaging tools currently available for the optimal diagnosis and treatment of this condition.

Purpose of Review Recently, an association between cannabis use and Takotsubo (stress) cardiomyopathy (TTC) has been shown. With the current trend of legalization of cannabis, it is important to understand brain effects of cannabis use that could lead to cardiac disease, such as TTC. Here we review recent brain imaging studies in order to search for the evidence supporting the association between cannabis use, stress, and TTC.

Purpose of Review Acute heart failure (AHF) is a common emergency presentation in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). In the current review, we present the most recent data on the epidemiology of AHF in SSA and discuss recommended approaches to management in resource-limited settings, with a particular focus on primary and secondary facilities (e.g., health centers and district hospitals), where these patients often present.
Purpose of Review Peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects an estimated 200 million people worldwide and is associated with significant cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Cardiovascular risk is further increased among individuals with polyvascular disease, where either cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease is present in addition to PAD. In this review, we present common clinical scenarios encountered when managing patients with PAD and provide an evidence-based approach to prescribing o...

Purpose of Review Many forms of heart disease result in the essentially irreversible loss of cardiomyocytes. The ability to promote cardiomyocyte renewal may be a promising approach to reverse injury in diseased hearts. The purpose of this review is to describe the impact of cardiomyocyte cell cycle activation on cardiac function and structure in several different models of myocardial disease.
