Abstract A novel and effective phthalazine-imidazole-based colorimetric chemosensor (E)-1-(2-((1H-imidazol-2-yl)methylene)hydrazinyl)phthalazine NNI was synthesized and tested to detect Cu2+ or Co2+ ions in buffer solution. NNI could probe Cu2+ and Co2+ by the color change from colorless to yellow. The complexation stoichiometries of NNI toward Cu2+ and Co2+ were, respectively, confirmed to be as 1 : 1 ratio and 2 : 1 by results of Job plot and ESI-mass. Abstract The utilization of a Schiff-base ligand (E)-1-(((2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl)imino)methyl)nap- hthalen-2-ol afforded two 3d-4f hexanuclear complexes of formula [CoIII2LnIII4(μ3-OH)2(NO3)4 (OAc)4L4(DMF)2]·2C2H5OH [Ln = Dy(1), Gd(2)]. Single-crystal X-ray diffffraction analysis revealed that complexes 1 and 2 were isomorphous and had a chair-like topology. Abstract To develop novel fluorescent probes for detecting endogenous histidine (His) plays significant roles in physiological and pathological fields. Herein, a non-emissive Ir(III) complex [Ir(C-N)2(CH3CN)2]+NO3- (IrCN, C-N represents 2-phenylpyridine derivative) has been demonstrated to be a reaction-based fluorescent probe for the recognition of His in HEPES buffer.
