Abstract Due to the extreme infectivity of Yersinia pestis it poses a serious threat as a potential biowarfare agent, which can be rapidly and facilely disseminated. A cost-effective and specific method for its rapid detection at extremely low levels is required, in order to facilitate a timely intervention for containment. Here, we report an ultrasensitive method exploiting a combination of isothermal nucleic acid amplification with a tailed forward primer and biotinylated dNTPs, which is perfo...

Analysis of saliva is a potential diagnostic tool in the management of human diseases. Analysis of saliva in healthy individuals is vital to comparison in a diseased state. Salivary glandular secretion constantly bathes the teeth and oral mucosa. The presence of saliva is vital for healthy oral tissue. Positive correlation has been shown in salivary calcium and phosphate and oral health. We have developed a highly sensitive and selective impedimetric calcium sensor for its non-invasive determina...

A cellulose nanocrystal (CNCs) material was converted into its dialdehyde before being decorated with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through an aminothiophenol linker. Then GOx enzyme was immobilized onto the CNCs-AuNPs using thioctic acid (TA) as a double linker. The prepared materials were characterized using morphological (SPM & SEM), spectroscopic (UV-visible & FTIR) and electrochemical (CV & EIS) techniques. The developed GOx-TA-AuNPs-CNC material loaded onto a GCE offered a convenient platform...

Abstract In this work, a novel sensor based on immobilised copper phthalocyanine, 2,9,16,23-tetracarboxylic acid-polyacrylamide (Cu(II)TC Pc-PAA) was developed for determination of acid phosphatase (ACP) levels in nanomolar quantities. Detection was based on the measurement of enzymatically generated phosphate, with initial studies focused on phosphate detection at a Cu(II)TC Pc-PAA modified screen-printed gold transducer. The sensor was characterised in relation to operational performance (pH, ...

Self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of cobalt teraaminophthalocyanine (CoTAPc) was developed on thioctic acid (TA) dithiol modified gold electrode and electrochemically evaluated as a glutathione (GSH) selective biosensor. The CoTAPc-TA-Au modified electrode was developed by the covalent immobilization of the CoTAPc as the electrochemical mediator onto previously prepared gold electrode modified with TA (TA-Au) via amid bond formation with the carboxylic group of TA, producing well-organized SAM of t...

ABSTRACTA novel electrochemical impedimetric sensor based on new copper phthalocyanine derivative-functionalized gold substrates has been developed. The modified transducers have been characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and contact angle measurements. Under the optimized conditions in terms of polarization and frequency range, the developed sensor provided a large linear range from 1 × 10−10 to 1 × 10−3 M with a detection limit of 9.48 × 10−11 M. To minimize the impedimet...

Solid-state potentiometric calcium sensors based on newly synthesized Schiff’s base of 3-aminosalycilic acid with benzil [2-hydroxy-3-(2-oxo-1,2-diphenylethylidene)amino) benzoic acid] ionophore I and with isatin [2-hydroxy-3-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene amino)benzoic acid] ionophore II ionophores and their covalently attached to polyacrylamide ionophores III and IV, respectively, were developed. The all-solid-state sensors were constructed by the application of a thin film of polymeric membrane cock...

In this paper, we have developed a miniaturized a chemical sensor based on a new nanostructured Co-phthalocyanine (Co(II)Pc-PAA) derivative functionalized Au microelectrodes for perchlorate ClO - 4 detection. The morphological properties of the sensitive layer have been characterized by contact angle measurement. The response of the obtained sensor-based CoPc/Au microelectrodes has been investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. The experimental impedance data of the se...

Abstract Two different DNA (ERBB2c and CD24c) modified gold nanoparticles and graphene oxide loaded on glassy carbon electrodes were prepared for early detection of breast cancer markers by electrochemical detection of HER2. Comparative study of ERBB2c and CD24c for the detection was carried out. A “sandwich-type” detection strategy was employed in this electrochemical DNA biosensor and its response was measured by amperometric detection. The electrochemical signal enhancement achieved via gold ...
