Enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (ENR) catalyzes the last reduction step in the bacterial type II fatty acid biosynthesis cycle. ENRs include FabI, FabL, FabL2, FabK, and FabV. Increasing the expression level of purple acid phosphatases (PAPs), which hydrolyze organic phosphate to inorganic phosphate (Pi), is an important response to Pi starvation in plants.
