The interest-driven creator (IDC) theory is being developed as a group endeavor by Asian researchers to articulate a holistic learning design theory for future education in Asia. The theory hypothesizes that students, driven by interest, can be engaged in the creation of knowledge (generating ideas and artifacts). By repeating this creation process in their daily learning routines, they will excel in learning performance, develop twenty-first-century competencies, and form creation habits. We ho...

Innovations in digital technologies have catalysed significant transformations of teaching and learning. Searching static webpages has evolved into dynamic online social networking and user generated content, and more recently interaction with intelligent services. The distinguishing features are embodied in the keywords – search, social, and smart. While search engines maintain a pivotal role in the web, social media now rivals them for dominance. This paper aims to describe the development of a knowledge management system (KMS) for the Nadir and Occultation for Mars Discovery (NOMAD) instrument on board the ESA/Roscosmos 2016 ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) spacecraft. The KMS collects knowledge acquired during the engineering process that involved over 30 project partners. In addition to the documentation and technical data (explicit knowledge), a dedicated effort was made to collect the gained experience (tacit knowledge) that is cruci...

This chapter discusses changes in teaching and learning that have emerged with ongoing innovation and revolution in the field of digital technologies. Such a topic has captured the attention and imagination of numerous researchers and commentators for many decades. While key terms like transformation are routinely used to describe ongoing potential for organisational, systemic and individual change, we argue that much of education has already been transformed driven by innovations with digital t...
