Aggregation of the amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) into insoluble fibrils is a key pathological event in Alzheimer’s disease. Zn(II) ion induces significant Aβ aggregation at nearly physiological concentrations in vitro. The effects of BaCl2 on slow vacuolar (SV) currents of radish are studied by using the whole-vacuolar patch-clamp recording mode. The Ca2+-dependent SV channel can be activated by cytosolic Ca2+. When 1 mmol/L BaCl2 is added into pipette solution, SV currents are suppressed remarkably. Then adding BaCl2 of different concentrations into the bath solution, SV currents reflect different effects. Abstract In order to investigate the binding sites and the amount of binding of a number of anti-tumor metal complexes (cisplatin, Cp 2 TiCl 2 and (CH 3 ) 2 SnCl 2 ) to target molecule DNA mononucleotides in aqueous solution, a 1 H NMR recognition probe, trans - [en 2 Os(η 2 -H 2 )(CF 3 SO 3 )](CF 3 SO 3 ), was used in a competitive mode. The minimum percentages of binding of anti-tumor metal complexes to different sites of dGMP were also determined.

Abstract The water-insoluble and water-soluble organotin(IV)porphinate complexes based on the tris-(4-pyridinyl)porphyrin and tris( N -methyl-4-pyridiniumyl)porphyrin moieties were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, 1 H NMR, IR and electrospray ionization mass spectra. Abstract The complexion [Co(phen) 2 dppz] 3+ (where phen is o -phenanthroline, and dppz is dipyrido[3,2-a : 2′,3′-c] phenazine) has been synthesized. This complex (as perchlorate salt) was characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity and IR spectra. The interaction of the complex with calf thymus DNA has been studied using absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra. The complex is also shown to be a more efficient photosensitiser for single strand breaks in plasmid DNA.
