Abstract A flowsheet model for a continuous direct compression tableting process is developed and applied to process data generated at production scale. Abstract At-scale industrial continuous twin screw wet granulation process was analyzed and optimized via design of experiment (DoE). The Box-Behnken method was selected to investigate the influence of key process variables on granule properties and tablet properties. The effects of the key process variables were analyzed. A tablet film coating and drying process was assessed by an experimentally validated thermodynamic balance model. Mass conservation equations were derived for the process air and the aqueous coating solution.
