Xanthones are important chemical constituents of Garcinia xanthochymus and varied bioactivities including cytotoxicity. However, their anti-tumor mechanism has remained unknown. Garcinia xanthochymus is a tropical fruit yielding tree native to South East Asia. Its fruit is used to treat bilious conditions, diarrhea and dysentery.
