Tilletia indica is an internationally quarantined fungal pathogen causing Karnal bunt of wheat. The present study carried out that the whole genome of T. indica was sequenced and identified transposable elements, pathogenicity-related genes using a comparative genomics approach. This commentary will give perspective of current status of Cyclic nucleotide gated channels (CNGCs) related finding in developmental, stress perception or other responses in plant system. CNGCs are newly discovered family of ion channels which opens upon binding of cyclic AMP or GMP at their cytoplasmic nucleotide binding (NBD) site. This commentary will also make researchers curious and enthusiast to further know the functional roles of uncharacterized CNGCs in plant system.
