The cis and trans isomers of compounds of the type Ph3Sn-CH=CH-C(OH)RR' as well as their gem analogs were synthesized and characterized. Mossbauer spectroscopy enabled to assess the presence of weak intramolecular HO-->Sn interactions in the cis and gem isomers in the solid state. In solution, the existence of such coordinations was evidenced by C-13 and Sn-119 Secondary Isotope Multiplet of Partially Labelled Entities (SIMPLE) NMR. We correlate the results of our NMR experiments with the reacti...

Bis(di-n-butyl)(2,3,6-trifluorobenzoato)- and bis(di-n-butyl)(2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoato)tin oxides were synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C, 19F and 119Sn NMR as well as by 119mSn Mossbauer spectroscopy. They were screened in vitro against six human tumour cell lines. MCF-7 and EVSAT. breast cancers, WiDr, a colon carcinoma, IGROV, an ovarian cancer, M19 MEL, a melanoma and A498, a renal cancer.

The J(Sn‐CH2) coupling constants in a series of benzyltin derivatives are examined as a function of the substituents. A J vs Σσ* graph shows three equidistant and parallel lines. The mass spectra of these compounds confirm the fragmentation rules described before. Copyright © 1971 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

(Dimethylphenylstannyl)methyl‐1‐naphthyl‐phenylgermanium (I) and methylneophylphenyl (triphenylgermyl)tin (II) are configurationally stable even in the presence of strong nucleophiles. Optically active isopropylmethylphenyl (triphenylgermyl)tin (III) has been synthesized by asymmetric induction and shows that hexaorganodimetal compounds with a tin‐germanium bond are optically stable. The synthesis of functionally substituted organometallic compounds with a Sn‐Ge bond, like 5‐[(phenyldimethylstan...

The mass spectra of seventeen mixed and of five asymmetric benzyltin compounds are described and analysed. The proposed fragmentation pattern is in agreement with the hypothesis of preferred Sn(IV) and Sn(II) valence states in the tin-containing fragments, which are reached by a loss of a radical from the molecular ion, or by the loss of an alkene or alkane from a favourable valence state.

Four compounds of the type [(o-RNH-C6H4COO)(CH3CH2CH2CH2)2Sn]2O and [(o-CH3NH-C6H4COO)(CH3)2Sn]2O have been prepared, characterized by H-1, C-13, Sn-119 NMR, and by Mossbauer and mass spectrometry. They have been tested in vitro against two human tumour cell lines, nl. MCF-7 (mammary tumour) and WiDr (colon carcinoma), and found to score slightly better than cis-platin but markedly less than other cytostatic agents.

Complexes of 2‐alkoxycarbonylethyltin and 2‐alkoxycarbonyl‐2‐methylethyltin trichlorides, R'O‐CO‐CHR‐CH2SnCl3.OPPh3, readily undergo transesterification reactions into the corresponding alkoxycarbonyl analogs R"OOC‐CHR‐CH2SnCl3.OPPh3 when reacted with R"OH.
