Abstract Objective Pancreatic carcinoma (PANC) is one of the important aggressive cancers, with deficiency in effective therapeutics. The study aimed to investigate the effects and molecular mechanism of miR-139-5p/SLC7A11 on the proliferation and metastasis of PANC. Methods Bioinformatics was used to analyze the differentially expressed genes in the TCGA database. PANC cell lines with overexpressed miR-139-5p and Solute Carrier Family 7, Member 11 (SLC7A11) was established, and have been used t...

Abstract Background Malignant phyllodes tumors of the breast are uncommon in women and rare in children. This study aimed to assess the differences in survival among five specific pathologic groups of breast malignancies and the differences between pediatric and adult breast phyllodes malignancy. Materials and methods Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database, we collected data on 270 pediatric (aged ≤21 y) female breast malignant tumor patients and 2773 female malignant phy...

Abstract An acid-assisted vacuum filtration approach is developed in this work to fabricate perylene diimide (PDI) and single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) based organic lithium ion battery (LIB) cathodes by using concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) as the solvent. PDI and SWCNT can be readily dispersed in H2SO4 by the protonation of their aromatic frameworks, thus rendering the effective combination of them in the acidic solution. The resulting PDI/SWCNT films are highly appealing flexible cathod...

Abstract In the Northern China Plain (NCP), extreme haze events with high concentrations of fine particles occur frequently during the winter but rarely occur in autumn. In this study, we present a synthetic analysis of particulate constituents during the historically polluted transition period of autumn–winter in 2018, revealing that mixed-type haze episodes are the result of regional transport, homogeneous/heterogeneous conversion, and sandstorm influences. The hydrolysis process of N2O5 at hi...

Abstract Objective Vitamin D is involved in various physiologic and pathologic processes in the human body. Aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and associations of adiposity indicators with 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) in Chinese children and adolescents. Research Methods & Procedures A population-based, nationwide and multicenter cross-sectional study involving 10,696 pediatric participants (51.2% boys) aged 6-18 years. Total body fat mass was assessed by d...

BACKGROUND: Whether genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes is modified by a healthy lifestyle among Chinese remains unknown. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to determine whether genetic risk and adherence to a healthy lifestyle contribute independently to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. METHODS: We defined a lifestyle score using BMI, alcohol intake, smoking, physical activities, and diets in 461,030 participants from the China Kadoorie Biobank and 38,434 participants from the Si...

Abstract. Severe winter hazes accompanied by high concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) occur frequently in the North China Plain and threaten public health. Organic matter (OM) and sulfate are recognized as major components of PM2.5, while atmospheric models often fail to predict their high concentrations during severe winter hazes due to incomplete understanding of secondary aerosol formation mechanisms. By using a novel combination of single particle mass spectrometer and optimize...
