A colorimetric and fluorescence turn-off probe 10-(4-azido phenyl)-5,5-difluoro-5h-dipyrrolo[1,2-c:1’,2’-f][1,3,2] diazaborinin-4-ium-5-uide, 1, for selective detection of H2S is reported. The probe displayed a robust decrease in fluorescence intensity with high sensitivity, specificity and least toxicity to detect exogenous H2S and also in live normal human oral fibroblast cells loaded with probe 1. Nitrogen-doped soluble graphene nanosheets (N-wsGNSs) were synthesized using lentil as a natural source of carbon and nitrogen via a simple pyrolysis and oxidation approach. A new molybdenum complex, [Et4N]2[Mo(PPh3)(mnt)2–OMo(mnt)2]·CH2Cl2·½H2O (1, mnt = maleonitrile dithiolene = S2C2(CN)2), with unique structural features was synthesized, in which the fragment {Mo(PPh3)(mnt)2–} was attached to another important {–OMo(mnt)2} moiety. A new discrete bis-dithiolene complex, [PPh4]2[Zn(DMED)2] (1; DMED = 1,2-dicarbomethoxy-1,2-dithiolate) with sulfur-based radical character was synthesized and structurally characterized.
