Despite a relatively large number of paleoenvironmental and archaeological studies in the Southern Urals, Russia, Holocene moisture dynamics in the region remain a subject of debate. Dynamics of breast tumor’s oxygenation and tumor blood flow during neoadjuvant chemotherapy was determined by diffuse optical spectroscopy and ultrasound investigation. Oxygenation and blood flow dynamics demonstrated variable changes depending on tumor response.

Tumor oxygenation is one of the key factors influencing disease prognosis and the effectiveness of treatment. Major changes in the Holocene were identified based on a diatom and geochemical analysis of sediment cores from Lakes Ufimskoe and Syrytkul (the Southern Urals).
