A 12-week feeding trial was designed to evaluate the effect of total replacement of fish oil (FO) with terrestrial alternative oils on growth, feed utilization, body composition, hematological parameters, and fillet fatty acid profile of mandarin fish juveniles. Four iso-nitrogenous (56% crude protein) and iso-lipidic (13% crude lipid) practical diets were formulated. A control diet contained 6% FO and three other experimental diets were prepared by replacing FO with linseed oil, soybean oil, an...

Abstract A feeding trial was designed to examine the potential of yellow mealworm, Tenebrio molitor, as a locally available renewable protein source in juvenile mandarin fish feed. Triplicate groups of fish (Initial mean body weight ± S E.; 20.8 ± 0.05 g) were assigned to each of four isonitrogenous (50%) and isocaloric (22 MJ kg−1) practical diets containing graded level of a full fat yellow mealworm meal (WM) (0, 10, 20, and 30%) at the expense of fish meal (FM) (designated as WM0, WM10, WM20,...

A feeding trial was designed to assess the effects of dietary protein and lipid content on growth, feed utilization efficiency, and muscle proximate composition of juvenile mandarin fish, Siniperca scherzeri. Six experimental diets were formulated with a combination of three protein (35, 45, and 55%) and two dietary lipid levels (7 and 14%). Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of fish (8.3 ± 0.1 g) to apparent satiation for 8 weeks. The results showed that growth performance in terms of weigh...
