The genera Geocharis and Caloclyptus, proposed by Gistel in 1834, are placed in synonymy with Molops Bonelli, 1810 (n. syn.). Geocharis thoracica and Caloclyptus jenisonii , also described by Gistel in 1834, are nomina dubia but, for pratical reasons, are placed in synonymy with Molops striolatus Fabricius, 1801 (n.syn.). Geocharis Gistel, 1834 is declared nomen oblitum and Geocharis Ehlers, 1883 nomen protectum .

Abstract. The purpose of this application, under Articles 70.2 and 81.1 of the Code, is to preserve stability in the taxonomy of the beetle family Dytiscidae by designating Dytiscus unistriatus Goeze, 1777 as the type species of Bidessus Sharp, 1880. The discovery of an earlier use of the name Bidessus, previously attributed to Sharp in 1882, with Dytiscus geminus Fabricius, 1792 as type species, results in disruptive nomenclatural changes in the family Dytiscidae if accepted.

Abstract. The purpose of this application, under Articles 65.2.2 and 81.1 of the Code, is to conserve the current usage of the generic name Ripiphorus Bosc, 1791 and the familygroup name Ripiphoridae Laporte, 1840. The current usage of Ripiphorus is threatened by the discovery that its first valid type-species designation is Mordella paradoxa Linnaeus, 1760 which would result in Ripiphorus being the valid name for the species currently included in Metoecus Dejean, 1834 and Myodites Latreille, 18...

Abstract. The purpose of this application, under Articles 70.2 and 80 of the Code, is to conserve the current and universal usage of the genus name Heteronychus Dejean, 1833 for a genus of rhinoceros beetles (Scarabaeidae: Dynastinae). Several species in this genus are important pests in Africa, Asia and Australia. The correct, long-overlooked type species is Geotrupes syrichtus Fabricius, 1775, designated by Duponchel (1845), is currently recognized as a valid species and the type species of Sy...

Abstract. The purpose of this application, under Article 23.9.3 of the Code, is to conserve the specific name Bolitophagus cornutus Fabricius, 1801 (currently Bolitotherus cornutus) for a common and well-known North American darkling beetle by giving it precedence over its senior synonym Opatrum bifurcum Fabricius, 1798.
