Production and productivity of wheat crop is hampered by the biotic and abiotic stresses putting the world food security at risk. Among the biotic stresses, rusts are the major threat throughout the wheat growing areas in the world whereas Karnal bunt, powdery mildew, Fusarium head blight and loose smut are of minor importance. These diseases severely affect the yield and quality of wheat grain. Till date these diseases have been contained by the use of host resistance alongwith the chemical fun...

Abstract The Ruddlesden-Popper type phases, which possess the general composition An+1BnO3n+1, are a well known class of materials exhibiting interesting structural and electric transport properties. In the present study two new phases in this class of materials with the composition Sr3WCoO7 and Sr3WNiO7 have been prepared in the solid state by standard ceramic method. X-ray diffraction studies show that these phases crystallize in tetragonal unit cell in the space group I4/mmm. Their structural...

The crude ethanol extract from the leaves of Lantana camara, Cannabis sativa, Allium cepa were subjected to antimicrobial analysis against selected bacterial pathogens B. subtilis, S. aureus, S. typhimurium, P. auruginosa, E. coli & K. pneumonia. The crude extract of different leaves samples was tested for its antimicrobial activity by using agar well diffusion and antibiotic susceptibility technique. The experimental results of Lantana camara ethanolic leaves extract shows higher bactericidal a...

Abstract Thermal decomposition of ammonium paratungstate 5[(NH4)2O] 12WO3.4H2O has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The results suggest that the water is lost in two steps at the temperature region 318.7 - 441.3 K, while anhydrous ammonium paratungstate is converted in to WO3 in the next three steps in the temperature region 441.3 – 767 K. The phases have been characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X- ray diffractometry. Various kinetic eq...
A field study was carried out during rabi 2013–14 to 2014–15 at the Experimental farm of Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal, Haryana to determine the efficacy of promising entomopathogenic fungi and botanicals against wheat aphid. The entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae 1.15% WP @ 4g/l was found to be the most effective with the least opulation of 18.03, 13.13, 5.93 and 11.00 aphids/shoot/plant at 1, 2, 7 and 15 days after spraying, respectively. The next effective ...
