Abstract The electromagnetic properties of the γ-transitions, decaying from the γ-vibrational states of 126Xe, have been studied via 122Sn(9Be, 5nγ) fusion-evaporation reaction at a beam energy of 48 MeV. The level scheme has been updated by placing the 8 2 + → 8 1 + ( Δ I = 0 ) and the 7 1 + → 6 1 + ( Δ I = 1 ) γ-transitions. Abstract Stable isotopic iodine targets were fabricated using potassium iodide (KI) compound on gold and lead backings and used in a heavy ion induced in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy experiment. Due to the hygroscopic nature of iodide compounds, a very thin gold capping was used to protect the targets from getting hydrated. Semiclassical particle-rotor model calculations have been carried out for the ground-state band of 102Ru nucleus to find out the possibility of antimagnetic rotational structure with more than two pair of proton holes in A ≈ 110 mass region.
