Abstract In the search for new therapeutic agents we have synthesized 13 new organotin(IV) carboxylate derivatives of ( E )-4-((4-methoxy-2-nitrophenyl)amino)-4-oxobut-2-enoic acid. Synthesis of two homoleptic and five heteroleptic zinc (II) carboxylate complexes with two different ligands: HL1 = 3-chlorobenzoic acid and HL2 = 2-(4-chlorophenyl) acetic acid have been reported in this paper. Abstract A novel N-substituted Schiff base ligand: N -(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylidene)-2,3-dimethylbenzenamine was designed and successfully characterized by several spectroscopic techniques. The formation of the desired compound was confirmed by the appearance of C N peak at 1691 cm −1 in FT-IR spectrum.
