Abstract Triassic granites are widely exposed in the central Qiangtang, northern Tibetan Plateau. They, therefore, made an important contribution to the growth of the Tibetan Plateau. Abstract Strongly peraluminous (SP) granites have A/CNK (molecular Al 2 O 3 /(CaO+Na 2 O+K 2 O)) ratios >1.1, indicating a predominant origin from the partial melting of metasedimentary rocks. Abstract Zircon U–Pb ages and Hf isotopic composition of Mesozoic intrusive rocks from the Yidun terrane were systematically investigated in order to decipher the geodynamic setting of magmatism and their relationship with Cu-polymetallic mineralization in the Eastern Tibetan Plateau. Abstract High Fe–Ti basic rocks (FeOt > 12 wt% and TiO 2 > 2 wt%) are rare in the geological record and display a different evolutionary trend (the ‘Fenner’ trend) from the normal ‘Bowen’ trend of SiO 2 enrichment.
