ABSTRACTDuring a traditional set configuration of resistance exercise (TRD), characterized by a continuous completion of repetitions, a decrease in power output tends to occur throughout a set of repetitions. Inclusion of intra-set rest, otherwise known as a cluster set configuration (CLU), countera

Abstract While recent work has suggested enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin reach the fetoplacental unit without causing obvious lesions in the 9-month-old equine fetus or resulting foal, many practitioners still hesitate to prescribe a fluoroquinolone during pregnancy. Since early gestation is a critical time for fetal skeletal development, if fluoroquinolones are chondrotoxic to the fetus at any point during gestation, this period would be important. The aim of this study was to assess the effects...

Abstract Although Staphylococcus aureus is a major cause of food poisoning, little is known about its response to growth on food. Utilizing a transcriptional profiling and metabolomics approach, we compared S. aureus grown on autoclaved chicken breast (ACB) to Luria broth agar. ACB cultures demonstrated increased expression of genes associated with protein synthesis, cofactors, secondary metabolites, nitrogen and nucleotide metabolism, amino acid transport, and reduced expression of general stre...

The recently discovered complete ammonia-oxidizing (comammox) bacteria occur in various environments, including wastewater treatment plants. To better understand their role in micropollutant biotransformation in comparison with ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA), we investigated the biotransformation capability of Nitrospira inopinata (the only comammox isolate) for 17 micropollutants. Asulam, fenhexamid, mianserin, and ranitidine were biotransformed by N. inopi...
