Abstract Phytoestrogens have an impact on both animals and humans due to use of legumes in animal diets as well as the increase of vegetarian diets in some human populations. Phytoestrogens thought to have varieties of adverse effects, among which immune system was involved. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of prenatal exposure to dietary soy isoflavones on some immunological parameters in male albino rat offspring. The pregnant rats were divided to three groups (12/group). Cont...

Abstract Cadmium is one of the potent environmental endocrine disruptors that has adverse effects on male fertility. This study was conducted to investigate the protective role of green tea extract (GTE) on cadmium chloride (CdCl 2 ) induced reproductive toxicities in male Wistar rats. Thirty-six male Wistar rats were divided to 4 groups, each one contained 9 rats. Control group, they were gavaged distilled water, meanwhile the treated groups gavaged CdCl 2 (3 mg/kg), GTE (70 mg/kg) and CdCl 2 +...

Information on the effects of phytoestrogens on animals has increased recently; however, there were only few studies on prenatal exposure on cellular immune response. Pregnant rats were assigned to 3 groups (12 rats per group), the first was fed control diet, the second was fed low-dose (6.5 g/100 g of diet) soy isoflavones, while the third was fed high-dose (26 g/100 g of diet) soy isoflavones. The female offspring cell-mediated immune response was determined using phytohemagglutinin (PHA) inje...

Histological effects of Monosodium glutamate (MSG) commonly used as food additive on the spleen of adult Wistar rats were carefully studied. The rats (n=30), average weight of 115 gm were randomly assigned into four treatments (n=6) and control (n=6) groups. The rats in the treatment groups received 4 mg/kg IP of MSG for fourteen days, while the control group receives the same volume of distilled water intraperitoneally. The rats were sacrificed after the last day of injection (group 1) and on 1...
