The current efforts described in this paper are aimed at developing compounds that inhibit the growth of prostate cancer and to identify structure/property relationships that will further assist us towards this goal. The effect of solvent on the ability to inhibit a group of cell lines was studied employing a series of water-soluble dibutyltin polyethers derived from various hydroxyl-terminated poly(ethylene glycols). The ability to inhibit cancer is inherent in organotin materials yet the structural relationships that regulate/direct this activity remains unknown.
