: Propolis is used as folk medicine due to its spectrum of alleged biological and pharmaceutical properties and it is a complex matrix not still totally characterized. Two batches of propolis coming from two different environments (plains of Po Valley and the hilly Ligurian–Piedmont Apennines) of Northern Italy were characterized using different analytical methods: Spectrophotometric analysis of phenols, flavones and flavonols, and DPPH radical scavenging activity, HPLC, NMR, HSPME and GC–MS and...

Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is a multifunctional crop that is capable of prompt environmental adaptation. In this study, a monoecious cultivar (Futura 75) and a dioecious one (Finola) were tested in a mountain area in Valsaviore (Rhaetian Alps, Italy; elevation: 1.100 m a.s.l.) during the growing season 2018. Phytochemical behaviour was evaluated by different analytical approaches: HPLC-high-resolution mass spectrometry, SDS-PAGE LC-MS/MS, HS-SPME GC-MS and GC-FID in order to obtain complete profi...

Abstract High-performance ion-exchange chromatography with suppressed conductivity (HPIEC-SCD) was validated for the determination of nitrite (NO2−) and nitrate (NO3−) in the edible part of diverse seafood species. Samples analyzed by HPIEC-SCD that were devoid of nitrite and nitrate were subjected to HRMS using a Q-exactive Orbitrap platform. As NO2− is not detectable in Q-Exactive Orbitrap, it was necessary to perform the oxidation of NO2− to NO3−. Accordingly, suitability of NO2− oxidation by...

The total of 84 Bluefin tunas (Thunnus Thynnus) were analysed in order to obtain an overview of biogenic amines incidences in geographically distant capture fishing FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) zones: Western Indian Ocean (51), Mediterranean Sea (37), Western Central Pacific Ocean (71) and Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean (34). Cadaverine and putrescine were remarkably accumulated in some samples, whereas histamine and spermidine were less abundant, but more freque...
