To investigate the role of betaine in the intestinal functions of high-salt stressed rats, 32 four-week-old male Sprague–Dawley rats weighing 128.0 (SD 5.06) g were randomly allotted to four groups. Ferrous glycinate (Fe-Gly) maintains high bioavailability in animals, but its exact absorption mechanism is still unknown. Here, we studied on the absorption kinetics of ferrous glycinate and its impact on the relevant transport protein in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats.
