Abstract A polysaccharide (ESPS) purified from Eupolyphaga sinensis Walker by ion exchange chromatography and gel chromatography was investigated, including its structure characterization and antitumor activity. The results showed that ESPS was composed of rhamnose, fucose, arabinose, xylose, glucose, and galactose in a molar ratio of 7.4: 3.1: 13.9: 9.3: 39.7: 26.5, with the mean weight (Mw) of 2.14 × 104 Da; the main chain of ESPS was mainly composed of → 4) - α - D - Glcp - (1 → and → 3) - β ...

BACKGROUND This study aimed to compare the short-term outcomes of open and robotic-assisted distal pancreatectomy (ODP and RDP) for benign and low-grade malignant tumors. METHODS The patients who underwent RDP and ODP for benign or low-grade malignant pancreatic tumors at our center were included. After PSM at a 1:1 ratio, the perioperative variations in the two cohorts were compared. RESULTS After 1:1 PSM, 219 cases of RDP and ODP were recorded. The RDP cohort showed advantages in the operative...

Introduction: A poor prognosis owing to cancer invasion and metastasis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of malignancy deaths worldwide. A dominant epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition or EMT function in tumour metastasis is substantially evidenced. Prior reports identified a likely correlation of the nuclear hormone receptor NR1D2 with HCC progression, but the underlying molecular mechanisms and role of invasion and metastasis are still to be adequately documented. Me...

Background: The significance of surgical resection in the treatment of metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is currently unclear. This study aimed to summarize and clarify the experience of surgical treatment of M1 PDAC in our center and evaluate whether it may offer benefits to some metastatic PDAC patients. Methods: We analyzed the data of the patients with M1 PDAC who underwent synchronous tumor resection between 2003 and 2014 at Ruijin Hospital. Simultaneously, clinical data fo...

Background: Pancreatic cancer is an extremely lethal digestive cancer with late diagnosis and poor prognosis. miR-934 has been reported to serve as an oncogene in multiple cancers, such as ovarian cancer and bladder cancer. However, its role in pancreatic cancer remains undiscovered. Materials and Methods: The expression data of miR-934 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and from our own patient samples. The clinicopathological data and corresponding follow-up data were retr...

Abstract Background Previous studies presented controversies in impact of body mass index (BMI) on perioperative complications in pancreatectomy, and mainly focused on Western population. This study aimed to explore the impact of BMI on perioperative outcomes in Chinese patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy. Methods Seven hundred and seven adult patients undergoing open pancreaticoduodenectomy between January 2005 and December 2016 at Ruijin Hospital were studied retrospectively and catego...

Importance Robot-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) has been reported to be safe and feasible. As a new technique, RPD has a learning curve similar to that of other types of minimally invasive pancreatic surgery such as laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy. To our knowledge, no reports exist on the outcomes of open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) and RPD after the learning curve. Objective To analyze and evaluate the actual advantages of RPD. Design, Setting, and Participants Between May 2010 ...

Abstract Background Postoperative acute pancreatitis (POAP) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) has been recently recognized as an independent complication that is associated with undesirable postoperative outcomes and often precedes other complications, yet predictive factors attributable to POAP after PD remain elusive. Methods The data from 1465 consecutive patients who underwent laparotomy or minimally invasive robotic PD from March 2010 to December 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. POAP wa...

OBJECTIVES: Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a serious condition whose pathogenic mechanism is unclear. Interactions of host genetic factors with gut microbiota have a role, but little is known, especially in children with CP (CCP), in which the external factors are less important. Our objective was to identify the main gut microbiota genera in CCP and to characterize the functional mutations of these patients. METHODS: We used 16S rRNA sequencing to compare the gut microbiota of healthy controls wi...
