Several experiments were conducted at the 10 MV Van-de-Graaff tandem accelerator at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Cologne, to detect proton emission from the isomeric 6457-keV \(10^+\) state in \(^{54}\hbox {Ni}\). Excitation functions for two fusion–evaporation reactions were measured to maximise the population of the rare two-neutron evaporation channel from a \(^{56}\hbox {Ni}\) compound nucleus. Abstract Electric quadrupole matrix elements, M p , for the J π = 2 + → 0 + , Δ T = 0 , T = 1 transitions across the A = 46 isobaric multiplet 46Cr-46V-46Ti have been measured at GSI with the FRS-LYCCA-AGATA setup. This allows direct insight into the isospin purity of the states of interest by testing the linearity of M p with respect to T z . The neutron-rich isotopes 211;213Tl, beyond the N = 126 shell-closure, have been studied for the first time in isomer γ-ray decay, exploiting the fragmentation of a primary uranium beam at the FRS-RISING (FRagment Separator-Rare ISotopes INvestigation at GSI) setup at GSI. The observed isomeric states in 211;213Tl show a deviation from the seniority-like scheme of 209Tl. The possible interpretation of the data is discussed on the basis of energy-level systematics and shell-model calculations.

The heaviest currently known nuclei, which have up to 118 protons, have been produced in 48Ca induced reactions with actinide targets. Among them, the element tennessine (Ts), which has 117 protons, has been synthesized by fusing 48Ca with the radioactive target 249Bk, which has a half-life of 327 d. The superfluid tunneling model is applied to the calculation of half-lives of the observed α decays in N=84 isotones. Results of our calculations are compared to experimental data on the ground-state α decays along the isotonic chain from 144Nd to 159Re. Good agreement is found. The α decays of the known high-spin isomers in 155Lu, 156Hf, 157Ta, and 158W are also well reproduced, once a reduction in the pairing strength is taken into account. A dedicated spectroscopic study of the β decay of 127Cd was conducted at the IGISOL facility at the University of Jyvaskyla. Following high-resolution mass separation in a Penning trap, β-γ-γ coincidences were used to considerably extend the decay scheme of 127In. The β-decaying 3/2+ and 11/2- states in 127Cd have been identified with the 127Cd ground state and the 283-keV isomer. Their respective half-lives have been measured to 0.45(+12-8)s and 0.36(4) s.
