Abstract This paper presents a real-time optimization strategy that targets on short-term energy consumption for the power-split hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) by focusing the mechanical motion of the powertrains. Instead of long-term energy optimization, which is usually investigated in the literatures on state of charge (SoC) management problem of HEVs, a short-term behavior of energy consumption is focused under the assumption that SoC of the battery is enough to provide the electric power re...

Abstract With the rapid market expansion of hybrid/electric vehicles, automobiles equipped with conventional internal combustion engines are facing stricter emission regulations and growing demands for efficiency improvement. As the bottleneck for further combustion efficiency enhancement, combustion variation in spark ignition engines has been investigated by means of both experimental tests and numerical analyses for many years. In this study, a symbol-sequence statistics-based method was util...

For the study of internal combustion engines, combustion control is an important method to achieve high efficiency and low emissions. Currently, in-cylinder pressure sensor-based closed-loop control strategies have become the preferred solution. However, their productional application in automotive industries is limited due to the cost of intensive pressure acquisition for a whole cycle and the calculation load of combustion phase indicators. This paper proposes a method of combustion phase esti...

We solve a optimization problem for HEV energy management. In this study, HEV system has three driving modes(EV, parallel, series parallel) with two motors, one engine and two clutches. We change this problem into a combination optimization problem by discretizing each torque as a variable. It is difficult to solve this problem because the combinations of variable are so many. To this hard problem, we solved it efficiently by using dynamic programming and applying steady-state approximation. It ...

In this paper, a powertrain control strategy for the real-time energy optimization of a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) with planetary gear system is presented. Based on the deduced actual powertrain dynamics, the aim is to develop a short-term energy economy optimization strategy to fit the frequent transient operations of the HEV. The effort is paid to design a controller that is not the high-level control for long-term optimization with constraint of the battery state of charge (SoC). Taking th...

By introducing matrix multiplier and vector multiplier two kinds of semi-tensor products (STPs), called matrix–matrix (MM) STPs and matrix–vector (MV) STPs, are introduced. They are generalisations of conventional matrix product, and contain standard STP as a particular case. Certain properties are revealed. Using consistent MM-STP and MV-STP, a cross-dimensional linear system is proposed. It is shown that the cross-dimensional linear system is a linear semi-group (S) system. Next, the quotient ...
