Abstract Introduction We sought to assess the prognostic impact of left atrial (LA) size on long-term outcomes of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods We studied 200 consecutive patients admitted to a single center between January 2010 and December 2014 with non-fatal STEMI treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) who underwent a comprehensive echocardiographic examination at discharge. LA volume was estimated by the area-length method. The left atriu...

Abstract Primary cardiac tumors are rare, with an incidence ranging from 0.0001% to 0.030%; 80% are benign, while sarcomas account for 95% of malignant tumors. The authors report the case of a 75-year-old patient with a giant mass in the left atrium. The final diagnosis was of an undifferentiated cardiac sarcoma. This tumor represents a real challenge not only for timely diagnosis, but especially the therapeutic approach to adopt.
