Extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli strain C999 was isolated of a patient with urinary tract infection. Previous genotyping indicated that this strain presented a multidrug resistant phenotype and carried the genes of the ESBL CTX-M-15, in addition to those of TEM-1 and OXA-1 enzymes. Abstract Multifunctional luminescent nanomaterials based on mesoporous silica SBA-16 doped with a ring-opening rhodamine derivative ( RhNHS ) or with a cationic porphyrin bearing imidazolium substituents ( Porph ) were successfully obtained and characterized.
