Abstract Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with varying light wavelengths (blue, green, yellow, red and white) were used to study the effects of light source on the biomass and exopolysaccharide (EPS) production of Cordyceps militaris . In a solid-state culture, green and red light sources gave the best hyphal growth. Abstract The submerged mushroom fermentation process has been used to obtain the mycelial biomass and metabolites for the production of pharmaceutical compounds. Abstract An approach was developed to enhance the efficiency for the bioconversion of 1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(methyamino)-ethanone to ( R )-phenylephrine. Abstract In this study, six E. coli strains, which harboring enhanced green fluorescence protein (EGFP), an intein (INT) and ice nucleation protein (INP), were used to express the EGFP protein. Abstract Serratia marcescens N10612, isolated from soil culture, was found to produce the bio-active prodigiosin isoform pigment (PIP) through nutrition tests. The complex medium consisting of sucrose, peptone and yeast extract was found to be the best composition for PIP production. Abstract In this study, exopolysaccharides (EPS) produced from Hypocreales sp. NCHU01 was carried out in the submerged cultivation. To find the optimal conditions, factors such as carbon and nitrogen source concentrations, pH, temperature, magnesium ion, and potassium ion levels were considered.
