This study focuses on how domestic and international entrepreneurs convince stakeholders that they are trustworthy. Drawing on the signaling theory, this paper explores how both types of entrepreneurs send signals, displaying a specific behavioral pattern, in order to communicate information regarding their abilities, benevolence, and integrity. Thus, it analyzes whether international and domestic entrepreneurs signal, in a similar manner, their trustworthiness. Likewise, it explores whether the...
Given trust is essential in the context of developing effective new venture, we investigate how entrepreneurs can develop a proactive role as trust builders in early stages. We review the evidences of prior studies examining the association between entrepreneur’s behaviors, attitudes and characteristics and trust. By 471 empirical findings identified, we provide a wide inventory of behaviors, attitudes and characteristics that entrepreneurs could use to display their trustworthiness across stake...
We introduce the class of split Lie-Rinehart algebras as the natural extension of the one of split Lie algebras. We show that if Lis a tight split Lie-Rinehart algebra over an associative and commutative algebra A,then Land Adecompose as the orthogonal direct sums L = \bigoplus_{i \in I}L_i A = \bigoplus_{j \in J}A_j where any L_iis a nonzero ideal of L any A_jis a nonzero ideal of A and both decompositions satisfy that for any i \in Ithere exists a unique $\tild...

Throughout the present work the latest contributions in determining filiform Lie superalgebras are reviewed. Filiform Lie superalgebras constitute itselves a very important type of nilpotent Lie superalgebras and their classification is at present and open and unsolved problem. Furthermore, the aforementioned contributions are mainly based on an adequate use of infinitesimal deformations of the model filiform Lie superalgebra.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze, for both parties of a distribution channel, to what extent each party perceives the counterpart’s use of performance measurement systems (PMS) and how this perception affects the perceiver’s own use of these systems, for either decision control or decision management. Design/methodology/approach The paper proposes a conceptual model tested at different levels using structural equations models. A case study uses survey data from 107 distributors an...

This study provides insights into the role of control systems in building sound international business relationships. Specifically, it examines the effect of design characteristics of exporters’ control systems, as a main source of information, on the quality of their relationships with their foreign intermediaries. The results reveal that in these international business relationships the scope and timeliness of information directly affect relationship quality, and that the intensity with which ...

Through a longitudinal case study, this article examines the evolution of the twofold function of formal governance mechanisms, for control and coordination, as an interorganizational relationship evolves. We ask whether all formal governance tools develop simultaneously, or whether each mechanism is designed and used for only one function; whether different mechanisms' attributes foster one function rather than the other; and whether different mechanisms are developed over time in order to prov...

In asymmetrical partnerships, the leader firm defines the strategy and tries to influence their partner’s actions to fall in line with its own expectations. Performance measurement systems (PMS) are frequently recommended for facilitating strategy implementation and enhancing IORs performance. Thus, the leader could use PMS to monitor its strategy and processes, i.e., decision-control use, expecting that partners use it also to manage their activities, i.e., decision-management use. In these con...
