Abstract A new record of noasaurid theropod (Dinosauria, Abelisauria) is here described and compared, including the description of its microstructure. It consists of an almost complete femur of small size (132 mm of preserved length) discovered in 2014 in a new locality at Campina Verde Municipality, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The new locality is named Fazenda Seis Irmaos-Grotas and has also provided thousands of ostracods, few fish remains, and a partial skeleton of an indeterminate baurusuchi...

AbstractThe current study presents a detailed analysis of the osteohistology of the Triassic non-mammaliaform traversodontid cynodonts Protuberum cabralense and Exaeretodon riograndesis. The data provided here adds new information on the growth patterns of South American traversodontids. A single subadult individual of P. cabralense revealed bone tissues comprising uninterrupted fibrolamellar bone. Patches of slower growing lamellar bone at the periphery of one of the elements suggests a transit...

The results of monitoring the Merostachys skvortzovii Send. regeneration dynamics, including seedling recruitment, growth and mortality (Araucarian Forest, General Carneiro, Parana, 26˚ 25′ S e 51˚ 18′ W, 1000m a.s.l.) are presented. Two gaps with similar size (40mx40m) and opening situation, resulting from M. skvortzovii dye-off s in 2003-2005, on which 80 small plots (1mx1m) were evaluated (2007). Monthly, it were registered the inclusion, permanence and mortality of seedlings of M. skvortzovi...

The first osteohistological study focused exclusively on rhynchosaurs (non-archosauriform archosauromorphs), based on the hyperodapedontines Teyumbaita sulcognathus and Hyperodapedon sp., from the Upper Triassic of Southern Brazil, indicates a relatively rapid growth rate in early ontogeny shown by the fibrolamellar complex, with a change to slow intermittent growth during late ontogeny represented by parallel-fibred bone with several growth marks. Contrary to previous studies, which described a...
