Abstract Background We developed evidence-based guidelines for postoperative opioid prescribing after urologic surgery and assessed changes in prescribing after implementation. Methods Prescribing data for adults who underwent 21 urologic procedures were used to derive a four-tiered guideline for postoperative opioid prescribing. This was implemented on January 1, 2018, and prescribing patterns including quantity of opioids prescribed (oral morphine equivalents; OME) and refill rates were compar...

ABSTRACT Nitrous oxide (N2O) is underutilized in ambulatory urology. Here, we review available data regarding application, efficacy, and side effect profile of N2O in ambulatory urologic procedures. Data were available from 11 studies. N2O has been described in the setting of transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsies, flexible cystoscopy, ureteral stent placement, and extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy in adult patients and catheterization in children. Studies showed significant improvem...

: Introduction Rezūm water vapor thermal ablation is a new minimally invasive technique used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Major advantages include minimal anesthesia and recovery time, low rate of sexual side effects and durable clinical improvement. However data is lacking regarding use of Rezūm in prostate glands >80cc. Here we seek to examine clinical outcomes of men with large prostate glands following Rezūm. Methods We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent Rezūm th...

Abstract Background A subset of patients with Peyronie's disease (PD) treated with collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) experience persistent bother and some require surgery. Aim We characterize patients experiencing persistent bother after CCH treatment and identify associations and predictors of surgical intervention/outcomes. Methods We retrospectively identified patients with PD from October 2014 to October 2019 and identified those presenting with persistent bother after CCH treatment...

Abstract Objectives To describe our experience with amphetamine/dextroamphetamine salts (AMP) as a treatment for DO/AO. Methods We identified patients with DO/AO from 9/2017-9/2019. Baseline characteristics and patient-reported orgasmic latency time (OLT) were recorded. After extensive screening, patients were treated with AMP. Validated questionnaires were administered including International Index of Erectile Function-5, quantitative Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male and Adult ADHD Self-Re...

The objective of this study is to identify factors associated with bother with rapid ejaculation in a cohort of men presenting to a sexual dysfunction clinic, independent of a diagnosis of PE. A prospective institutional database has been maintained on patients completing an 89-item intake questionnaire querying various areas of sexual dysfunction. Regarding ejaculatory dysfunction, patients are asked “Do you feel bothered, annoyed, and/or frustrated by ejaculating too quickly?” Statistical mode...

Peyronie's disease is a common yet poorly understood condition characterized by penile pain, curvature, sexual dysfunction and psychological bother. Peyronie's disease represents a penile wound healing disorder, and is thought to arise from exuberant scarring in response to penile trauma in genetically predisposed men. In the absence of active treatment, the majority of men experience stable or worsening symptoms, with few reporting spontaneous resolution in penile curvature or other deformity. ...
