Macrophages exist in various functional phenotypes, which could be identified by specific surface molecules. Previous studies have shown that modulation of surface charges could alter the phagocytic function of macrophages. In this paper, we discuss different types of cost-effective microelectrodes fabricated with the lithography process. The device with interdigitated electrodes is fabricated using Gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs) decorated semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). In this paper, we propose a novel technique to overcome the conductance limitation in metal contacted single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)-based devices using metal nanoparticles (MNPs).
